Build your Rio de Janeiro itinerary

Choose how many days you have and we'll lay out a day-by-day plan built around the experiences and flavors you can only get here. Pick anywhere from one to five days below.

Trip length
A tailored 3-day plan for Rio de Janeiro
Day 1

The Two Icons

CORCOVADO · SUGARLOAF · COPACABANA
  1. ~7:30a
  2. 8:30a
  3. ~11:30a
  4. ~1:30p
  5. ~4:30p
  6. 8:30p

Do the two summits on the clearest day you get — Christ at opening, Sugarloaf at sunset, weather permitting; if a day is cloudy, swap them around. Both reward going early or late, never midday.

Day 2

Beaches & the Carioca Day

IPANEMA · LEBLON · LAGOA
  1. ~9:00a
  2. ~11:30a
  3. ~1:30p
  4. ~4:00p
  5. ~6:30p

This is the slow beach day — Cariocas treat the beach as a way of life, not a sight. Keep valuables minimal on the sand, and don't miss the communal sunset clap at Arpoador.

Day 3

Downtown, Samba & the Port

CENTRO · LAPA · PORTO MARAVILHA
  1. ~9:30a
  2. ~11:30a
  3. ~1:00p
  4. ~3:30p
  5. ~7:00p
  6. ~9:00p

Centro is liveliest on weekdays (quiet on weekends). Lapa is the place for live samba but stay street-smart at night — go with a group and keep to the busy, lit blocks.

The specialty of Rio de Janeiro

Eat it here, then bring it home

Carioca food revolves around the beach, the corner botequim bar, and the national feijoada, brightened by tropical fruit and threaded with Afro-Brazilian flavor.
