Trip length
A tailored 3-day plan for Santorini
Day 1

The Caldera & the Oia Sunset

FIRA · CALDERA PATH · OIA
  1. ~8:30a
  2. ~10:00a
  3. ~1:00p
  4. ~3:30p
  5. 7:30p
  6. 9:00p

The Oia sunset is gloriously mobbed — arrive early for a public spot, or sidestep it entirely from a private terrace. The caldera walk is best in the cool morning; carry water, there's little shade.

Day 2

Volcano, Hot Springs & Wine

NEA KAMENI · HOT SPRINGS · SANTO WINES
  1. ~9:30a
  2. ~11:30a
  3. ~1:30p
  4. ~4:00p
  5. ~7:30p

The volcano-and-springs boat trip is the classic half-day on the water; the springs are warm, not hot, and the mineral water stains light fabric. Santorini's volcanic whites are world-class — the wine afternoon is a highlight, not a filler.

Day 3

Beaches, Akrotiri & the South

AKROTIRI · RED BEACH · PYRGOS
  1. ~9:30a
  2. ~11:30a
  3. ~1:30p
  4. ~4:00p
  5. ~7:30p

Akrotiri is genuinely extraordinary and often overlooked — go early when it's cool inside the shelter. The southern villages and beaches are the island's calmer, more local side, a good balance to Oia's glamour.

The specialty of Santorini

Eat it here, then bring it home

Santorini's volcanic soil and near-total lack of rain concentrate its produce into something extraordinary, and the same volcanic ground gives Greece some of its finest dry white wines.
